The town of Gretna has a new up-to-date website with more interactive features for its customers.

The site, www.townofgretna.org, was completed in November and allows town customers to pay their bills online and learn about services the town offers. It will soon enable citizens to email town council members and view meeting agendas and minutes, budget information and audits, said Town Clerk/Treasurer Wendy Scearce.

“The biggest thing we’re excited about is allowing customers to pay their bills online,” Scearce said.

The old website was outdated and was taken down for the new one. The new site also has information on the town’s rates, leaf pickup and a list of town council members and their terms, Scearce said.

“This is more interactive,” Scearce said. “They can interact with council members and office staff.”

The project cost about $6,000-$7,000, with half of it paid for by a grant from the Virginia Tobacco Commission, Scearce said. The town of Gretna paid for the remainder.

Town Manager David Lilly said the new site is “much more user friendly.” The old site was about five or six years old, Lilly said.

Brad McDarmont with McDarmont Web Design in Ringgold designed and built the website, Scearce said.
